Taylor succeeded in athletics despite his obstacles, and he eventually obtained a scholarship to play football at Prairie View A&M University.
From 1965 to 1975, he was a wide receiver with the Chiefs and was instrumental in the team’s success.
Taylor was picked in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs after graduating in 1965.
Taylor received multiple honors throughout his career, including four Pro Bowl choices and two First-Team All-Pro selections.
Otis Taylor helped lead the Chiefs to two Super Bowl visits, including a win in Super Bowl IV, in which he had six catches for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Taylor remained active in the Kansas City community after retiring from football in 1975. He was well-known for his dedication to many charity organizations, and he frequently offered his time and resources to assist people in need.
