Anne Paloma Ruiz-Picasso y Gilot, also known as Paloma Picasso, was born in France and Spain on April 19, 1949. She is best recognized for designing perfumes and jewellery for her own line of Tiffany & Co.

She is the child of Pablo Picasso and Françoise Gilot, a painter. The symbol that carries her father’s name, Paloma, may be seen on a number of his creations.

For the World Congress of Partisans for Peace, which took place in Paris the same year Paloma was born, her father designed it.

Paloma Picasso started her career in jewellery when she was working as a costume designer in Paris in 1968. She crafted some rhinestone necklaces using stones she purchased at flea markets, but some of them received negative feedback.

The jewellery designer felt confident enough to pursue formal study in the area after this early success. In 1980, Picasso began making jewellery for Tiffany & Co. in New York.

In 1984, she began experimenting with fragrance, creating the “Paloma” perfume for L’Oréal. In the New York Post, Picasso claimed that it was made for “strong women like herself.”

Paloma Picasso appears in numerous of her father’s creations, such as Paloma with an Orange and Paloma in Blue. Paloma Picasso is also depicted in her mother’s “Paloma à la Guitare” (1965), which sold for $1.3 million in 2021.
