Patrizia Cavalli, a well-known Italian modern poet, died on Tuesday in Rome at the age of 75.

 

Patrizia Cavalli was born in Todi, Italy, in 1947, and moved to Rome at the age of 21.

 

Patrizia’s first collection of poems was published in 1974, and it was dedicated to her friend and well-known writer Elsa Morante, who had encouraged her to pursue a career in literature.

 

Two years later, in 1976, Patrizia Cavalli was included among poets such as Vivian Lamarque, Amelia Rosselli, and Anna Maria Ortese in the anthology Women in Poetry – Anthology of female poetry in Italy from the postwar period to the present, edited by poet Biancamaria Frabotta.

 

Patrizia Cavalli had previously produced numerous collections of successful and critically acclaimed poems for Einaudi, but in 2020 she won the Campiello Prize for her only book of prose, With Japanese Steps (2019), also published by Einaudi.

 

He wrote the book for Voland / Bideri in 2013 with Diana Tejera, a Roman singer-songwriter.
