Wanner played for FV Ravensburg’s youth team before joining Bayern Munich’s youth team in mid-2018. Wanner was called up to Bayern Munich’s first team by Julian Nagelsmann in January 2022, after many of the team’s regulars tested positive for COVID-19. On 7 January 2022, he made his professional debut for Bayern in the Bundesliga against Borussia Mönchengladbach, coming on as a substitute in the 75th minute for Marc Roca.
At the age of 16 years and 15 days, Wanner became the youngest player in Bayern Munich history and the second-youngest in Bundesliga history behind Youssoufa Moukoko (who was 14 days younger). Bayern was defeated 2-1 at home in the match. Wanner became Bayern’s youngest player in the Champions League on October 12, 2022, when Wanner came on as a second-half substitute for Dayot Upamecano in a 4-2 away win against Viktoria Plze.
