On the 11th of June, 1997 The Leningrad Regional Court sentenced Pavel Shuvalov to be executed. His final words before the court were as follows:

Shuvalov was born on the 13th of September the year 1968 in Leningrad in a wealthy Soviet family. Shuvalov was the youngest of the children and, as such his parents were open to whatever he wanted to do. Shuvalov spent the majority of his time was spent at home, nearly never interacting with his classmates. He later told me that at 12 years old his peers referred to him as were referred to as “dark”, severely beating him , and simultaneously cutting his pantyhose in the crotch before putting the item over his head. Then, Shuvalov would treat his victims the same way.

After high school, Shuvalov joined the military, and then began working in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, working as a member of the Leningrad Metro Directorate at the stations Yelizarovskaya, Lomonosovskaya, Proletarskaya and Obukhovo and working in the Nevsky and Severnoye depots. In the early 1990s, he’d been promoted into the ranks of senior lieutenant.

Shuvalov arrested girls under the age of 18 who attempted to access the station with no ticket and evading the turnstile. After dragging them into the interrogation facility and warned them to disclose the incident to the parents and school by threatening and then demanding permission to hold an event outside of normal hours. The murders occurred during these meetings, at the Nevsky Forest Park, merely murdering women in pantyhoses. In the forest Shuvalov forced his girls to put on the pants they brought before raped the girls. According to the experts, Shuvalov was a typical heterosexual addict and maniac. His first crime was committed in the autumn of 1991, his body was found by park staff just two months afterward. He was raped, then murdered 12-year old Irina Barsukova but managed to escape capture because her death was deemed accidental. The next 4 years Shuvalov did four other murders.
