Peter Britton Tobin (August 27, 1946 – October 8, 2022) was a Scottish serial murderer and sex offender who served a life sentence at HM Prison Edinburgh for three murders committed between 1991 and 2006. Aside from these three killings, investigators suspect Tobin is responsible for the deaths of several additional young women and girls.
Prior to his first murder conviction, Tobin was sentenced to 10 years in jail for a double rape in 1993, after which he was freed in 2004. Three years after his release, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the rape and murder of Angelika Kluk in Glasgow in 2006.
The bodies of two teens who went missing in 1991 were later discovered in his previous house in Margate, Kent. Tobin was convicted of the murder of Vicky Hamilton in December 2008, resulting in a thirty-year minimum term, and of the murder of Dinah McNicol in December 2009, resulting in a life sentence.
Tobin was labeled a psychopath by a leading psychologist, and it was suspected that he was involved in the late 1960s Bible John killings, however, authorities finally cleared him. Tobin reportedly boasted in jail about having murdered 48 people.
