Phil Read, a former English motorcycle racer was born in Luton, England on the 1st of January, 1939. Phil Read was heavily known for being the first motorcycle rider to win world championships in the 125cc, 250cc, and 500cc grand prix classes.
Read, who participated in the world championship from 1961 to 1976, won the Isle of Man TT races eight times and was a seven-time world champion.
On a 250cc motorcycle, Read won the first world championship for Yamaha in 1964. Additionally, Phil Read won four more titles while working for the Japanese company. The late English racer Phil Read competed for the Italian company MV Agusta and won the 500cc championships in 1973 and 1974.
Phil Read passed away on October 6, 2022 at the age of 83 years. His funeral, burial and memorial services are all pending.
Phil passed away surviving his wife, Madaleine Read and his five children.
