Anys is a native of Morocco. At the age of four, she relocated to Quebec, Canada, with her family. Her parents were academically formed. Anys, a chemical engineering student at McMaster University, dropped out to focus solely on her streaming business. She is presently a resident of Los Angeles.
She presently has the largest female streamer following. She founded and participates in the online social entertainment community known as OfflineTV. In June 2013, Anys opened a Twitch account.
Once she had obtained a Platinum rank in League of Legends, she started broadcasting later that year using a $250 PC she had purchased from a classified website.
Pokimane, a combination of her name Imane and the word Pokémon, was created. She garnered around 450,000 Twitch followers in 2017, ranking her account in the top 100 most followed accounts on the platform.
