Kiernan Jarryd Forbes is one of the biggest names in the South African music industry, he is a famous South African rapper who has remained one of the most popular and influential rappers in South Africa.
AKA formed a hip hop group called Entity in 2002, with his two friends Vice Versa and Greyhound. The group was given a KORA Award nomination for Best African Hip Hop. AKA went on to study sound engineering after the group he formed, known as entity disintegrated in 2006.
AKA helped create the production collaborative The I.V League in 2006, along with two other members. He issued the singles “In My Walk,” “I Do,” and “Mistakes” in 2009. AKA released his second album, named Levels, in June 30, 2014, also with four singles—”Jealousy,” “Kontrol” (with Da L.E.S), “Congratulate,” and “Run Jozi (Godly)” which were released in support of the album. RiSA awarded the album platinum certification in 2014 and double platinum certification in 2018.
