Although the number of Flair’s world championship reigns varies by source and ranges from 16 to 25, the WWE officially recognizes him as a 16-time world champion (8 times as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, 6 times as the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, and twice as the WWF Champion). He has also alleged that he has won the title 21 times. He was the inaugural champion of both the WCW International World Heavyweight Championship (which he also held last) and the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.
