Richard E. Taylor was born on November 2, 1929, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, as a Canadian physicist and Stanford University professor.

The Canadian physicist and Stanford University professor rose to prominence after sharing the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1990 with Jerome Friedman and Henry Kendall “for their pioneering investigations concerning the deep inelastic scattering of electrons on protons and bound neutrons, which have been of critical importance for the development of the quark model in particle physics.”

Richard E. Taylor received his formal education at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, where he received his BSc (1950) and MSc (1952) degrees.

Richard E. Taylor then rose to prominence after applying for a Ph.D. at Stanford University, where he joined the High Energy Physics Laboratory until his death on February 22, 2018, at the age of 88, in Stanford, California, United States.
