In January 2022, Hijikata won a spot in the main draw of the Melbourne Summer Set 1 and made his ATP Tour debut there. Hijikata also achieved his first top 100 victories by defeating Henri Laaksonen, who was ranked 98 in the world, in the final qualifying round. He lost his first match to eventual finalist Maxime Cressy. Hijikata lost in the second round of the men’s singles qualifying for the 2022 Australian Open.
