Rishi is the oldest of three siblings. While his father was born and raised in the Colony and Protectorate of Kenya (modern-day Kenya), his mother was born in Tanganyika which later became part of Tanzania.
Before that, he served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2020 to 2022 and Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2019 to 2020. Since 2015, he has been the Richmond (Yorks) Member of Parliament (MP).
From 2001 through 2004, Sunak worked as an analyst for the financial institution Goldman Sachs. In September 2006, he was elevated to partner at Children’s Investment Fund Management, a hedge fund manager. He departed in November 2009 to work with old employees at Theleme Partners, a brand-new hedge fund company that started in October 2010 and has $700 million under management.
