Rodney George Laver who was born on 9 August 1938 is a former Australian tennis player. Laver was ranked world no.1 in some sources in 1964, in all sources from 1965 to 1969 and in some sources in 1970.

It lasted four years before and three years after the start of the Open era.

Rod Laver has won a total of 198 singles titles, the most in tennis history ever recorded. He also won the all-time men’s record for 10 or more titles per year for seven consecutive years from 1964 to 1970. Rod was always on the heat with the ball.

When Laver was a teenager, he left school to pursue a tennis career that lasted him 24 years.

The legend was both Australian and US Junior champion in the year 1957. Rod rose to the limelight on the world stage in the year 1959.

Laver was ranked the world No. 1 amateur in the year 1961 by Lance Tingay.
