Born on January 5, 1970, Rodney Lee Davis is a Republican politician who represented Illinois’ 13th congressional district in the United States from 2013 to 2023. He came in last in a state legislature race in 1996. Davis oversaw the first reelection campaign for Illinois congressman John Shimkus in 1998. Following the election victory, he agreed to join Shimkus’ congressional staff.

The Republican County Chairmen for the 14 Illinois counties that make up the 13th district nominated Davis as their candidate for Congress on May 19, 2012. Tim Johnson, a Republican incumbent who served in this district for six terms, previously represented the 15th district. By 1,002 votes (0.3%) in the general election, Davis defeated Democratic nominee David M. Gill. John Hartman, an independent, received about 21,000 votes (7.2%). Michael Firsching, Davis, and Harold were among the Republican candidates. Davis received 55% of the vote to win the primary.
