The appointment of him as Vice President at Infosys was subject to approval by India’s Ministry of Corporate Affairs. When his father stepped down as Executive Chairman on June 14, 2014, Rohan left the company.
Murthy earned a Ph.D. in computer science from Harvard University prior to joining Infosys. A Siebel Scholars Fellowship and a Microsoft Research Fellowship helped fund his Ph.D.
Rohan Murthy earned his Ph.D. after studying computer science at Cornell University. Despite the fact that he does not read Sanskrit, as a Ph.D. student, he took a class on Kumarila Bhatta’s Shlokavartika, which piqued his interest in ancient Indian philosophy and science.
On June 1, 2013, he was said to own $347 million in Infosys stock. He is the founder of the Murty Classical Library of India, which is a continuation of Sheldon Pollock’s Clay Saskrit Library Project.
