The African American truck driver and a security guard were busted for allegedly using a 20 dollar counterfeit bill, the cop knelt on his neck and back for about nine minutes until he lost consciousness and died on the spot.
The next day after the incident Chauvin with the other 3 cops who aided in his arrest was sacked and on May 29, Chauvin was convicted to 22 and half years in prison for third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
Floyd had a daughter with Roxie, Ginna Floyd who was 6 years as of 2020.
His murder was followed by protests in opposition to police brutality mainly about people of colour(black people), the protests rapidly escalated throughout the U.S and worldwide.
His final words before death” I can’t breathe,” turned into a call to arms during the protests.
