A female journalist was crushed to death, according to a senior police officer, during a political march in Pakistan that was being led by former prime minister Imran Khan.

Salman Zafar, an assistant superintendent in Kamuke, one of the towns along the march’s route, reported that Sadaf Naeem, a 36-year-old television reporter for Channel 5 in Lahore, died on Sunday after falling from the container truck Khan was riding in. Naeem was a television journalist for Channel 5 in Lahore.
Journalist Qazzafi Butt, who witnessed the incident, claims that Naeem attempted to climb onto Khan’s truck in order to interview him, but she lost her balance and the truck’s wheel ran over her head.

Khan’s caravan was traveling through Punjab Province toward Islamabad on the third day of the march. The demonstrators, who want early elections, were opposing Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and his government. A few reporters are typically invited up onto the truck’s top by the Khan convoy crew so they can speak with Khan.
