The 49ers took an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter with an amazing 84-yard drive that took just five plays to complete. Running back Christian McCaffrey took advantage of a 13-yard shovel pass to score his ninth touchdown of the year.
Cleveland helped San Francisco out a little bit on the possession. The cornerback, Greg Newsome, was called for unnecessary roughness when he hit McCaffrey outside the bounds. Zadarius Smith, a defensive end, was also called for a 15-yard facemask penalty.
With 32 yards gained on two carries and a 13-yard reception, McCaffrey demonstrated his abilities. Having scored a touchdown in 15 straight games, he now stands second in league history for this remarkable accomplishment.
Christian McCaffrey, who was chosen by the Carolina Panthers with the eighth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, became one of the most dynamic players in the league very fast.
