We have decided to bring to you the head-to-head of two of Ghana’s biggest artist, Sarkodie and Shatta Wale, due to the rivalry between them.

SARKODIE

Sarkodie, is a Ghanaian rapper and entrepreneur from Tema. His contributions to the Ghanaian music industry have earned him numerous accolades, including the Vodafone Ghana Music Award for Artiste of the Decade. In 2015, Sarkodie was ranked the 19th most Influential Ghanaian by e.tv Ghana. He is considered one of the major proponents of the Azonto genre and dance and the biggest thing to ever happened to African HipHop.

Sarkodie has received 84 awards from 154 nominations, including 22 Ghana Music Awards. Makye, his debut studio album, won him three awards at both the 4syte TV Music Video Awards and Ghana Music Awards. The album also earned him a nomination at the 2010 MTV Africa Music Awards. Rapperholic, his second studio album, earned him accolades at the 2012 editions of the BET Awards, The Headies, Ghana Music Awards, National Youth Achievement Awards, MOBO Awards, and Channel O Music Video Awards.

SHATTA WALE

Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr is a producer and reggae-dancehall musician. He is known by his stage name Shatta Wale, formerly Bandana. His best known song is “Dancehall King”, which led to winning the Artiste of the Year at the 2014 edition of the Ghana Music Awards. Wale is also an actor, having appeared in the films Never Say Never, The trial of Shatta Wale and Shattered Lives.
Within the six years after the VGMA disturbance to the release of his first ever nationwide banger, Shatta Wale
to his success story, six years up and down sweat has won him 71 awards and produced a lot of hit songs. He featured on Beyonce’s album tagged the Lion king with Already track.

In 2014, Shatta Wale was nominated for the Maiden GN Bank Awards as the People’s Choice Male Musician of the year. He was also named the 38th Most Influential Ghanaian by E-TV Ghana in 2015 in their annual survey of influential people in Ghana. He is currently the most Awarded Dancehall artist in Africa and one of the most awarded dancehall artist in the world.

Shatta Wale has 27 awards only in 2019.
