On the 25th anniversary of the album “The Woman in Me” Shania Twain joined Tom Power to talk about how the hit album put her on track to becoming the bestselling female country artist of all time.
According to her, She felt alone in the world, far from home, and unable to pay her bills. She wasn’t sure if the album would make the numbers but to her surprise, the album performed miraculously well.
The album had sold 12 million copies in the United States alone by the time the Record Industry Association of America awarded it 12x Platinum certification in 2000. More than 20 million copies of the album were sold globally.
Additionally, the album won several awards including album of the year honors from the Canadian Country Music Association Awards and Academy of Country Music Awards country album of the year honors from the Billboard Music Awards and many others.
