Rahul Sharma got married to his wife, Barkha Sharma in 2009 and the couple had a son, Abhinav, on June 17, 2014. Rahul studied Economics at Mithibai College, Mumbai.
He began his music career by playing the harmonium at an early age. He learnt the santoor at the age of 13, yet, he was not very certain about pursuing music until he turned 17.
Rahul Sharma began to follow his father, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, to concerts in 1996. When he attained the age of 22, Rahul was signed by Peter Gabriel to perform at WOMAD and at the Darbar festival.
In his life’s achievements, Rahul and American saxophonist, Kenny G had an album that reached number 2 on Billboard world charts and number 4 on Board Smooth jazz charts.
He also has the following awards to his credit;

- Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards also in 2011
According to sources, Rahul Sharma has released over 60 CDs, some of which are solo and others with his father.
