She graduated from Lehigh University in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in international business. She studied abroad for her degree in Italy and Kenya. Ruhle visited Lehigh once more to deliver the 2017 graduation speech.
Ruhle worked in the financial sector for 14 years before joining Bloomberg. She worked as a Merrill Lynch assistant during her second year of college.
In 1997, she started Credit Suisse, and for the next six years, she sold hedge funds. She spent her time at Credit Suisse First Boston as a vice president and the top-producing credit swaps salesperson in the US.
Ruhle previously held the roles of executive editor for Bloomberg Television and editor-at-large for Bloomberg News. The London Whale story, which identified the trader accountable for the 2012 JPMorgan Chase trading loss, was first reported by three Bloomberg reporters, including Ruhle.
