Paul Clarke was born on 11 October 1956 in Ardrossan, Scotland.
On 4 December 1982, Paul and Steve played against each other when Paul was with Kilmarnock and Steve with St. Mirren during the 1982-83 season at the Rugby Park. The match ended with 2-2 draw with Paul scoring the two goals for his team.
Paul Clarke also played for the Scotland national team, Saltcoats Star and Ardrossan Winton Rovers. He retired from football at the age of 29 and joined Strathclyde Police.
