Over the course of his career, Stuart Woods has written more than sixty novels. He was born and reared in Georgia, where he began his career as an advertising copywriter. First Novel of the Year: Edgar Award for Chiefs was granted to him in 1981. Woods, an avid pilot, and sailor, currently spends much of his time between Florida and Maine.

 

When Woods graduated from the University of Georgia in 1960, he moved to New York City to begin a career as a reporter. Sailing became his new hobby after moving to Galway in Ireland and working as an advertising executive in the United Kingdom. He is now living in Ireland.

Katie Grinch, who served as Woods’ publicist, said on Wednesday that the golfer died away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, July 22, at his home in Litchfield County, Connecticut.

 

His burial, funeral, and other rites will be performed by his family members but the actual date and venue have not been announced to the public yet.
