Susie Dent then received a master’s degree in German from Princeton University in the US. From a young age, Susie Dent developed a strong fascination with words and language. As a child, she had a verbal obsession and was determined to expand her vocabulary.

During family vacations, Susie Dent would study German or French vocabulary books, eagerly seeking to acquire new terms. Even before she could read, Susie Dent displayed a curiosity for letters. She would examine the letter forms on the back of shampoo bottles, intrigued by their shapes and patterns.
