A suspect is now in custody following a tragic incident where a mother was fatally shot in front of two young children in a Miramar neighborhood early Wednesday. Miramar Police are categorizing the shooting as a domestic incident.

The distressing event unfolded around 8:20 a.m. in the 7500 block of Plantation Boulevard. Miramar Police authorities verified that the woman was discovered shot near a car outside her residence and was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Notably, two children under the age of 5 were present with the woman at the time of the shooting, but thankfully, neither sustained injuries. Miramar Police spokesperson Tania Rues reported, “When police responded to the scene, they did locate two children under the age of 5 near the victim. They are presently being interviewed by people who are experts at interviewing children of this age.”
