Later that season, Davies made his only league game for the Swans before joining Merthyr Tydfil in August 1992.

Last year, he was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer and was treated at the Royal Liverpool Hospital before being transferred to the Nightingale Hospice in Wrexham. Mark Davies died when he collapsed during a veteran football game.
