Taxiarchis Fountas is a Greek professional footballer who now plays for Major League Soccer club D.C. United as well as the Greece national team. He was born in Messolonghi, Greece on September 4, 1995. Taxiarchis was 27 years old at the time of writing this article and currently plays for D.C. United, where he wears the number 11 shirt.
He began his career with AEK Athens and went on to play in the Austrian Bundesliga with Grödig, St. Pölten, Austria Wien, and Red Bull Salzburg. He formerly played in Super League Greece for Panionios and Asteras Tripolis.
On June 13, 2015, Fountas made his international debut for Greece in a UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier against the Faroe Islands. He entered the game in the 81st minute, replacing Panagiotis Kone.
