Shinzo Abe was born on September 21, 1954, in Tokyo, into a prominent political family with significant financial clout in Japan’s pre-war, wartime, and post-war periods.
Along with Seikei Elementary School, Abe attended Seikei Junior and Senior High Schools. He graduated with a bachelor’s in political science from Seikei University in 1977 after majoring in public administration.
Later, he moved to the United States, where he spent three semesters studying public policy at the University of Southern California’s School of Policy, Planning, and Development (now the USC Price School of Public Policy).
