Up until they began dating, Cindy began frequenting Opal’s, a local bar where the 26-year-old also served as a bouncer.

Cindy was detained by Colorado police in connection with Ron’s suspected attempted murder, but Corsicana police lacked sufficient proof to immediately place Cindy under arrest.
Although Cindy’s fingerprints were found on the strange letter connected to Les’ death, Kansas authorities decided that the evidence was insufficient to convict Cindy of Les’ murder.
The Colorado detectives were informed at the time by Manda Packard, Cindy’s cellmate, that Cindy had admitted to killing Toby in order to get the insurance money.
After Manda passed the polygraph, Cindy was given a murder charge by the police. Cindy accepted a plea agreement in November 2000, and as a result, she was given a sentence of 60 years in prison for the murder of Toby and an additional 24 years for encouraging the assassination of Ron.
Rick admitted his culpability, saying that he and Cindy had followed Toby on April 14 and that Cindy had shot him multiple times after that. He admitted that he had also shot Toby once in the head to ensure his death.
He was given a 60-year term in July 1999 after entering a guilty plea to first-degree murder. While detained at the Wallace Pack Unit in Grimes County, Texas, he will be eligible for release in April 2028. According to jail records, his earliest anticipated release date is in April 2058.
