Tom Sandoval says he was close to taking his own life after his affair with Rachel Leviss came to light and the media hyped it as “Scandoval.”
The Vanderpump Rules star says there were times during the negative limelight when he “felt very, very close” to killing himself. The revelation was made by Sandoval in the first episode of his podcast, “Everybody Loves Tom” on Thursday. He said that there was a lot of backlash from the affair which put him in a bad headspace.
His state of mind ultimately led to a domino effect that brought him to the brink of suicide. Sandoval said that his world started collapsing and he couldn’t see outside his feelings after the so-called ‘Scandoval.’ Things started to escalate after he went back to the home he shared with his ex, Ariana Madix.
He also went on to recall a story from back in 2017 when he ran into late Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington a few days before he died by suicide in July of that year. Sandoval said that he never understood why Bennington killed himself before he found himself in the middle of the Scandoval.
However, Sandoval said that he considers himself lucky because he had a few friends who stuck by his side despite all the drama and basically ended up saving his life.
Sandoval’s revelation comes after Leviss also opened up about how she dealt with mental health issues following the affair, spending a few months in a mental health facility.
