Tylee Ashlyn Ryan (September 24, 2002 – September 9, 2019) and Joshua Jaxon “J. J.” Vallow (May 25, 2012 – September 23, 2019) were two American children from Chandler, Arizona, who went missing in September 2019 and were found dead near Rexburg, Idaho, in June 2020. Tylee was last seen alive on September 8, 2019, at Yellowstone National Park. J.J., her younger brother, was last seen alive at Rexburg’s Kennedy Elementary School on September 23, 2019.
Tylee Ryan was initially reported missing by the family concerned not just about the children, who had not been heard from in weeks, but also about several other strange situations.
Police questioned the children’s mother, Lori Vallow Daybell, about their whereabouts and well-being in November 2019. Lori and her new husband, Chad Guy Daybell, stated that J.J. was staying with family friend Melanie Gibb in Arizona before going to Idaho in early September 2019. When the police called Gibb, she informed them that Joshua was not with her and hadn’t been for some months. More than a week later, Gibb called the police to tell them that Lori and Chad had both begged her to lie to them about J.J.’s whereabouts, but she refused. Police investigations into J.J.’s disappearance revealed that Tylee was also missing.

The Woodcock and Ryan families verified on June 10, 2020, that the human remains discovered on Chad’s land were those of Tylee and J.J. On June 13, Rexburg police formally confirmed this discovery. Their children are no longer classified as missing, and the investigation is now focusing on discovering the circumstances behind their deaths.
