Uri was born in Tel Aviv. In 1952, he graduated from high school and performed his military service in an army entertainment troupe.
His first marriage ended in divorce, he was engaged to Israel singer Ilana Rovina.
Uri Zohar attended the Hebrew University of Jerusalem to study philosophy in 1960.
Uri Zohar was caught possessing marijuana and was sentenced to three months of community labour.
