Anthony Kapel “Van” Jones, born September 20, 1968, is a news and political commentator, author, and lawyer from the United States. In terms of education, Van attended and graduated from Jackson crucial-Merry high school in 1986. Then he enrolled in the University of Tennessee at Martin (UT Martin), where he earned a Bachelor of Science in communication and political science.

Jones received his Juris Doctorate from Yale Law School in 1993. Later, he relocated to San Francisco and co-founded the Standing Collectively to Prepare a Revolutionary Motion, a socialist collective (storm). They demonstrated extensively in opposition to police brutality. Prior to joining CNN in 2013, Jones founded non-governmental organizations (NGOs), led campaigns, and was appointed as a special advisor for inexperienced Jobs by the Obama administration.
