Vicky White and Casey White, two unrelated people, had previously escaped from jail in Evansville, Indiana. On April 29, they escaped from the Lauderdale County Jail. Vicky White willingly fled with the inmate, according to the police.
Their escape was highly publicized, and the authorities assumed that the two were in love.

Vicky White died from gunshot wounds she inflicted on herself. The police arrested them in a hotel on Monday, May 9, 2022, and gave them a hard chase that ended in a wreck.
Inmate Casey White has surrendered, but Vicky White has decided to commit suicide in order to avoid prosecution.
She fatally shot herself and was transported to a local hospital. Authorities say the 56-year-old woman escaped with Casey White on her last day before retirement.
In September 2020, Casey White was charged with murder for stabbing 58-year-old Connie Ridgeway.
He was already serving a 75-year sentence for a string of previous criminal offences.
