Victor Wembanyama is a professional basketball player from France who plays for Metropolitans 92 in the LNB Pro A. He was born on January 4, 2004. Standing 2.20 meters (7 ft 3 in) tall, he is a power forward who is regarded as one of the finest European prospects of his generation. He is thought to be the favourite to be taken first overall in the NBA draft in 2023.
Wembanyama was created in the French village of Le Chesnay. He played goalkeeper in youth football and practised judo. Since he was four or five years old, Wembanyama has been learning how to play basketball from his mother, a former player. He began his professional career at his local club, Entente Le Chesnay Versailles. He enrolled in the youth program at Nanterre 92 when he was eleven years old. Offers from more prominent teams like ASVEL and FC Barcelona were declined by his parents.
