Jason Smith 43, is a volunteer firefighter of the Balko Fire Department. Jason was involved in a rollover accident with another firefighter, Tyler Morris last month. They went to northwest Oklahoma to counter the development of a wildfire.
This caused them to be badly injured suffering from serious burns and smoke inhalation when their tanker truck turned over a six-foot slope in the month of April.

According to reports made by the Balko Fire Department, Jason Smith couldn’t survive the injuries and died on Sunday. ” On April 5, Smith and fellow volunteer fireman, Tyler Morris were burned when the fire vehicle they were riding in toppled over while battling the Beaver River Fire”. BFD recalls.
” When ambulances couldn’t get through the smoke, a trooper rescued them and they were immediately flown to a burn unit in Lubbock hospital ”. BFD added. ”
”Morris, on the other hand, is making progress and we wish him a speedy recovery and heartfelt condolence to Jason’s wife Amy, two kids, Julia and Taylor, and a baby grandson named Emmett. If anybody would like to send cards or other items to his family, you can send them to the Balko Fire Department”. BFD affectionately added.

On April 18, Jason Smith’s wife, Amy also recalls the efforts which were put in place for Jason Smith to recover quickly.
”We were ready to go to surgery today when the team of doctors conferred and made a different decision. They decided that it would be beneficial to wait on surgery for now and monitor our progress.
“The areas that they are most concerned about are areas that don’t involve functionality. So, now we are trying to get organized and learn wound care so we can GO HOME!!!!” Amy stressed.
“Smith had a checkup on April 27 and everything looked positive. We were supposed to go back for a follow-up this week, only for this tragedy to befall us”. Amy emotionally added.
