Jeffs rose to prominence after the FBI put him on its Ten Most Wanted List in 2006 for arranging weddings between his followers and underage females.

Although his 2007 conviction for accessory to rape was overturned, proof of the abuse of minor females was discovered during a 2008 raid on the FLDS complex in Texas, leading to the FLDS leader’s life sentence in 2011.
