Isiah Jones, a fighter from Detroit, was shot and died on Monday night during an argument with a family, according to Isiah’s trainer Roshawn Jones, who spoke with The Ring. The Ring reports that before getting shot in the head, Jones allegedly got into a confrontation with his brother. Jones and the trainer don’t appear to be related.
No other information had been given, but according to the Detroit Police Department, a relative had shot and killed a male with that name, 28, at 6:26 p.m. in the 9300 block of Stout Street.
Jones, who took home the 2016 National Golden Gloves, finished his career with a 9-7 record (3 knockouts). He listed a 52-2 amateur record. He went professional in 2016 and won his first eight fights under the instruction of Roshawn Jones and Kenneth Ross. However, he dropped seven of his eight fights after leaving the program.
