Christopher Shea began working as an assistant editor in the Post Outlook section in August 2018. Prior to that, he was the editor of the Vox.com Perspectives section in Washington, D.C. He has also written columns for the Boston Globe Ideas section and the Wall Street Journal Review about the world of ideas. Shea has worked as a freelance writer and editor for NPR, Bloggingheads.tv, and Lingua Franca. He began his career as a reporter for the Chronicle of Higher Education.

Mr. Shea’s sister described him as an intellectual who was drawn to books and ideas rather than the prospect of traditional beat reporting. He joined The Post in 2018 after a year running the Perspectives section at Vox.com in Washington and a previous career contributing to the Boston Globe and Wall Street Journal’s opinion and reviews sections.
