An American professional golfer named Kathy Whitworth won more LPGA and PGA Tour events during her playing career than any other player with 88 victories. With her 181 top-two performances, Whitworth also finished 93 times as a runner-up.

Kathy Whitworth achieved $1 million in career earnings on the LPGA Tour in 1981, becoming the first female to do so, and the World Golf Hall of Fame includes her. Whitworth triumphed in the Kelly Girls Open, her maiden contest, in 1962.

Kathy Whitworth won 88 tournaments on the LPGA Tour between that and her triumph in the 1985 United Virginia Bank Classic, which is the most of any golfer, including those who competed on the PGA Tour for men. Six of them were important victories.

Kathy Whitworth became one of just four LPGA players to have won the Orange Blossom Classic five times in 1974 when she took home her fifth victory. During the 1990 inaugural Solheim Cup match, she led the American team as captain. In 1981, she became the first LPGA athlete to make a million dollars.
