In an alleged attempt to use holding his wife and kid at gunpoint initially in the early hours of 3:00 am, and then in the afternoon on January 5, as leverage to dissuade police threats to shoot at him, after his wife made a report to the police Mark Capps was fatally shot in front of his doorway at his home in Nashville. As to what triggered his actions to intimidate both his wife and stepdaughter still remains a mystery.
