Russian football coach and player Georgi Aleksandrovich Yartsev was born on April 11, 1948. Yartsev has two daughters and is married. On February 18, 2007, his son Alexander was slain in his own house.

Between 2003 to 2005, he served as the Russian national team’s head coach. He attended the Tekmash Kostroma football academy to learn how to play the game.

A forward who played for Spartak Kostroma (1965–1967, 1975–1976), Iskra Smolensk (1968– 1972), CSKA Moscow (1970), Gomselmash Gomel (1973– 1974), Spartak Moscow (1977– 1980), Lokomotiv Moscow (1981), and Moskvich Moscow (1981). (1982). played in 82 games and scored 38 goals in the USSR championship’s top division. 1979 USSR champion.

He led the USSR championship in scoring in 1978. (19 goals). For the USSR national team, he appeared in five (5) games.

His playing career was unique in that he didn’t advance to the top club football level in the USSR until he was 29 years old.

Once he arrived at Spartak Moscow, he soon earned success at the highest level. That unexpected late-career comeback, though, did not last very long, and he soon announced his retirement.
