From 1990, when she was 11 years old, until 2011, Jacobsen competed for Victoria, serving as captain of the Victorian Under 19 team in 1996-1997 and the Under 21 team in 1997-1999. She was awarded a scholarship by the Australian Institute of Sport in 1997 and 1998. He also played for the Australian national team from 2005 to 2008. While playing with the Melbourne Phoenix, she participated in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy from 1998 to 2007, winning premierships in 2000, 2002–2003, and 2005.

Jacobsen participated in the inaugural season of the ANZ Championship in 2008 with the Melbourne Vixens. She was re-signed for 2009, but a preseason knee injury interrupted her season.

In 2010, Jacobsen extended his agreement with the Vixens. The Vixens’ 2010 season was a complete failure compared to their 2009 one. At the conclusion of the 2010 season, Jacobsen made the decision to announce her retirement from competitive netball after playing in 148 games at the highest level of the game and taking home five championships.
