Although Glenda Cleveland, Evan Peters’ neighbour, played a significant part in the Dahmer narrative, she is not the only important character. Jim Stingl said in a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel story that if the authorities had listened to Cleveland when she raised her worries about her neighbour, Dahmer’s atrocities may have been put to an end “two months sooner.”

Glenda Cleveland died away on December 24, 2010, at the age of 56. She had been staying in her Milwaukee apartment. Only a few days had passed since she was last seen by some worried neighbours, who then alerted the police, who subsequently found her lying on the floor of her apartment.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s coverage of the medical examiner’s findings, the death was “a natural death caused by heart disease and high blood pressure.” Her daughter Sandra Smith ascribed this to her mother’s habitual smoking.
