Appling County High School in Baxley, Georgia, is where Buxton received his diploma. He was chosen with the second overall choice in the 2012 Major League Baseball draft because many baseball analysts thought he was the most skilled player available.
He received the 2013 Baseball America Minor League Player of the Year Award. In 2015, Buxton made his MLB debut, and in 2017, he took home the Gold Glove Award.

What Happened Byron Buxton?

On Monday, Byron Buxton received the Electric Play of the Week Award for the third time in his career. His second and third victories of the year, respectively, were in May and July, gave him the title twice.
The dynamic outfielder, who has won three Play of the Week awards since the award’s debut in 2019, is now joined by Lorenzo Cain and Jonathan Davis as the only player in the Major Leagues to do so. Buxton charged a shallow line shot to make a diving grab in the bottom of the 10th inning of a tied game, then threw to first base to complete a double play.
