Buthelezi appeared to be winning the battle when he began to hallucinate before passing out in the final moments, according to a witness who attended the match.

He was transported to the hospital on a stretcher, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

Legendary boxer Dingaan Thobela and Hlengiwe Mavimbea, MEC for Sport, Recreation, and Recreation, were in attendance for the match, which was broadcast live on television.

“Towards the end of his bout, Buthelezi fainted and was rushed to hospital where it was determined that he sustained a head injury which resulted in internal bleeding,” said Erick Sithole, CEO of Boxing South Africa, in a joint statement with the Buthelezi family.

Buthelezi was given the finest care available at the hospital, however, he succumbed to the injury last night, as previously stated,” he said.

Boxing South Africa, according to Sithole, would conduct an independent medical evaluation of the injuries and subsequently make the findings public.

“The Buthelezi family and Boxing South Africa immensely appreciate the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture’s heartfelt condolences.

“Funeral arrangements will be announced as soon as possible by the family and Boxing South Africa.

“While mourning the loss of this great boxer who was exceptional both inside and outside the ring, Boxing South Africa and the Buthelezi family request that the public and media allow them room,” he added.

MEC Mavimbela expressed her sympathies, saying, “We are profoundly grieved by the news of Mr. Buthelezi’s passing.

“We hoped he would recuperate after the incident on Sunday.

“On behalf of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government, I would like to convey our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the entire boxing community for their loss.”
