Carlos Correa was born to Sandybel Oppenheimer and Carlos Oppenheimer in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Despite having a meager salary, Correa’s family was able to construct a modest home in the fishing community of Barrio Velázquez in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, where he was raised. When Carlos Correa was five years old, a neighbor suggested putting him in a youth league, the parent-pitch division, because he frequently played catch in an alley near his house at a young age. Due to his hitting prowess, Carlos Correawas chosen to play at first base, and throughout their leisure time, his father continued to train him. In 1998,The family’s home sustained significant damage from Hurricane Georges. As a result, his father was obliged to take on a number of odd jobs, although he kept up his daily instruction of Correa Jr.

At the age of seven, Carlos Correa was hitting up to 150 home runs for Santa Isabel’s Playita Cortada American Baseball Congress affiliate. Rio Grande, the league’s winner after the team was ousted, enlisted Carlos Correa to participate in the championship series played in Atlanta. The family found this challenging due to the distance between Santa Isabel and the town of the Rio Grande. Although his mother also worked, when that wasn’t enough, she started selling food.

His original team donated their sales revenue to help cover the cost of the trip, and the residents of Santa Isabel started assisting them in organizing charity games. Carlos Correa, the pitcher for the Rio Grande, was selected the competition’s Most Valuable Player after he retired eight batters to help his team rally. When he was 11 years old, the family began making trips to the Caguas municipality so that he could train with more experienced teams.
