Eugenie Scalfari was born on April 6, 1924. He was an Italian national and a well-renowned Journalist in his country. He was an editor of the news magazine L’Espresso between 1963 to 1968.

He became a member of parliament in the Chamber of Deputies right after resigning as a News editor. He also co-founded the newspaper La Repubblica and worked as its editor from 1975 to 1996.

Scalfari began his second cycle of education at the Mamiani High School in Rome.

His family was known to have hailed from the Calabrian and later moved to Sanremo, where his dad was employed as the artistic director of the casino.

He completed his high school education at G.D Cassini school, were Italo Calvino was a classmate.

In 1950, Scalfari married his wife, Simonetta, the daughter of the Journalist Giulio De Benedetti, she died in 2006.

From the end of the seventies, Scalfari was romantically linked to Serena Rossetti, former editorial Secretary of L’Espresso and later of La Repubblica, whom he married after the death of his wife, Simonetta.

What Happened to Eugenio Scalfari?

Scalfari died on July 14, 2022 at the age of 98. There has not been any publication disclosing the cause of his death, however many people related his death to old age and natural cause.
